& Source Deductions
As an employer, a trustee, or
a payer of other amounts such as, a trustee in bankruptcy, you have to deduct
Canada Pension Plan
(CPP), Employment Insurance (EI)
premiums, and Income Tax
from amounts you pay. Amounts paid include salaries, wages (including
advances), bonuses, vacation pay, or tips. Also included in these amounts are
other benefits and allowances, such as board and lodging, you provide to your
employees.
You remit
these deductions plus your share
of CPP contributions and EI premiums throughout
the year on your employee's behalf to Revenue Canada. You
then report the
employee's income and deductions on the appropriate information return (such
as the T4 or T4A) by the end of February
of the following calendar year. Employer information returns consist of both
a summary and slip. Depending on the type of income, you may have to file one
or more type of returns. All summaries and slips are due on the last day of
February.
Business Resource Consultants facilitates all
these requirements and files all required documents on your behalf to Revenue
Canada
each month. We interface and deal with
Revenue Canada
on all related issues and queries.
